Minister of Environment and Climate Change HE Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie has said Qatar pays great attention to protecting the marine environment, preserving its biodiversity, and protecting it against pollution.

He said Qatar does so through passing legislations, establishing marine reserves, as well as conducting research and studies, monitoring marine habitats and endangered species, in addition to raising environmental awareness.

This came as the Minister of Environment and Climate Change HE Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie represented Qatar in the High-Level Event on Ocean Action: Immersed in Change, held in the Republic of Costa Rica on June 7th and 8th. Al Subaie attended the first session of the High-Level Event on Ocean Action, which discussed the preparations leading up to the next UN Ocean Conference, to be held in France in June of 2025, as well as the escalating challenges facing the oceans, and the lack of international funding to achieve the 14th goal of the Sustainable Development Goals. page 4
