QATAR General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) on Sunday launched the new power station (Jehadiya3) to supply power to Al Rayyan Stadium.
The new power station comes within Kahramaa's plan to boost the power network serving projects related to the World Cup 2022 around the country.
Built at the cost ofQR90mn and with a capacity of 11/132 Kilo Volt, the Jehadiya3 station features a power station equipped with subsidiary facilities. It produces 40 Megavolt Ampere of electricity for the project.
Engineer Mohammed al Kuwari, projects manager at Kahramaa, said that the new power station started operating on May 30."It is one of the five major projects Kahramaa has dedicated to World Cup 2022", Kuwari said.
The station has adequate capacity to meet the power needs of the air conditioned stadium and its other facilities.
Emphasising that that the new power station boasts of high standards of safety, Kuwari said that it took Kahramaa24 months to get the power station built.
This is the third power station to operate after the successful opening of Muheirja power station last year and the AL Wukair1 that provides power to the Wakra Stadium.
Another power station called 'Haidan', which will provide power forAl Bait Stadium in Al Khor is expected to open soon.
