Marking the first anniversary of the failed siege imposed on Qatar by the Saudi-led group, 'Qatar Taxi' will be offering free rides on June 5 starting from 00.00 hours to 23.59 hours.
The initiative aims to pay tribute to the wise leadership of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and the people for showing resilience and resolve to withstand the unjust blockade.
Mubarak Salem, business development manager at Qatar Taxi, said,"The free ride on June 5 is a small step to say thank you to all the residents of Qatar for showing solidarity and solid resolve to overcome the crisis. The strength, loyalty and patriotism demonstrated, in response to the tumult of the past months, has been inspiring and uplifting for all of us. Today we are united by our pride in Qatar and its leadership, and the fellowship we share is a testament to the values upon which Qatar was founded and thrives."
He added,"We look forward to a bright and prosperous future under the wise leadership of HH the Amir and as always, we are renewing our vow to serve our beloved homeland and embark on the path of development in all fields."
Qatar Taxi is the first Qatari application for booking cars, which are safe, reliable and come at an affordable price. Two months after Qatar Taxi's launch, more than 6,000 users have downloaded the app and around 1,000 drivers have registered to work for it. It also clocks in a weekly growth rate of around 25 percent."
The startup currently focuses on catering to customers in and the surrounding areas of Doha, Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah, with a future plan to cover the entire country.
