THE new crescent of Hijric month 'Shawwal 1439H' will be born on June 13, at 10:45pm Doha local time (7:45pm universal time), Qatar Calendar House (QCH) announced on Wednesday.
Expert Astronomer at QCH Dr Beshir Marzouk said the age of the new crescent at sunset time on June 14, will be 19 hours and 45 minutes, while its altitude will be 7.5 degrees over western horizon of Doha sky at sunset time.
The moonset time in Doha on Thursday (June 14) will be 7:06pm, while the sunset time will be at 6:25pm.
The residents of Doha and most of the Arabic and Islamic countries will be able to see the new crescent with astronomical telescopes over Qatar sky and most of Arabic and Islamic countries on June 14, Dr Marzouk added.
According to astronomical calculations, the Hijric month 'Ramadan 1439H' will end on Thursday (June 14) while the first day of Shawwal 1439H will be on June 15, 2018.
