Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of the Netherlands HE Dr Mutlaq bin Majid Al Qahtani has affirmed that the visit of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the Netherlands in response to the invitation of HM King Willem-Alexander of the Kingdom of the Netherlands comes as a culmination of the significant Momentum witnessed in relations between the two countries in recent years.
Al Qahtani, in an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), said that the visit of HH the Amir, which is the first of its kind, receives great attention and keenness from Dutch officials because it will have a positive impact on strengthening the bilateral relations and opening new horizons for joint cooperation.
Al Qahtani added that they noticed this interest from Dutch circles in preparing for the important visit of HH the Amir, whether at the governmental political level or among the investment and business sector and various other sectors included in the visit.
He expected that the visit of HH the Amir would witness consultations on international issues of joint interest, especially the Palestinian conflict and the mediation efforts undertaken by the State of Qatar to end the war in the Gaza Strip, in addition to other international and regional issues such as the Russian-Ukrainian war in Ukraine, supporting stability in Afghanistan, securing international trade corridors, and energy security.
He pointed out that the visit will also address ways to support and enhance cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the fields of economy, investment, and scientific research, especially since the Netherlands is one of the leading countries in the field of technology and sustainability, and is an interest by Qatar in opening horizons of cooperation with the Netherlands and benefit from its expertise in the fields of water management, port economics, sustainable agriculture, innovation, education, infrastructure, and other fields.
Moreover, there are also mutual investments between the two countries that will be strengthened and developed.
Al Qahtani said that the upcoming visit of HH the Amir to the Netherlands would contribute to strengthening bilateral political cooperation in international forums, especially mutual support and coordination on issues of common interest, in addition to improving cooperation relations in the economic and investment fields and exchanging experiences in the sectors of education, scientific research, innovation, agriculture, and food security.
He called on the private sector to explore the available investment opportunities in the Netherlands, indicating that they are in the process of preparing a round table that will bring together the business sectors of both countries to open avenues for future cooperation between the two sides.
He highlighted Qatar's mediation efforts, which played a crucial role in assisting the Netherlands to evacuate its citizens from Afghanistan in 2021, in addition to Qatar's role in securing the release of a Dutch citizen among the hostages released from Gaza through Qatari mediation, as well as Qatar's contribution in ensuring a long-term gas supply to the Netherlands following the outbreak of the crisis in Ukraine.
Al Qahtani concluded that there is continuous coordination between officials in the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of the Netherlands to achieve a ceasefire and end the war in the Gaza Strip.
