His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a session of official talks with Prime Minster of the friendly Kingdom of the Netherlands HE Mark Rutte, at the Binnenhof, the Prime Minister's Office in The Hague, on Monday.
At the outset of the session, the Dutch Prime Minister welcomed HH the Amir and the accompanying delegation, marking HH the Amir's first official visit to the Netherlands, a testament to the deep relations between the two countries.
Prime Minister Rutte expressed his eagerness to work with His Highness to enhance mutual cooperation and elevate the bilateral relations to new heights. He also praised the significant role played by HH the Amir and the State of Qatar in mediating for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
In response, HH the Amir expressed his profound gratitude to the HE Dutch Prime Minister for the warm reception and generous hospitality.
HH the Amir emphasized the importance of the visit in light of the exceptional relations between the two nations, hoping that its outcomes would further cement strategic cooperation across various fields, benefiting both countries and their friendly peoples.
HH the Amir reaffirmed Qatar's steadfast stance on the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to establish an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, as part of a two-state solution, and the continuation of diplomatic mediation efforts to halt the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
During the session, both sides discussed aspects of cooperation and ways to enhance and develop them, as well as key regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly the developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
The session was attended by Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani; Minister of State for Energy Affairs HE Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi; Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani; and Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater along with members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir.
On the Dutch side, the session was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Climate and Energy HE Rob Jetten; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Affairs and Employment HE Karien van Gennip; and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation HE Liesje Schreinemacher; along with a number of senior officials.
HH the Amir and the Dutch Prime Minister witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on economic, commercial, and technical cooperation, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of defense.
Prior to the official meeting, HH the Amir and the Dutch Prime Minister held a bilateral meeting, during which they discussed various topics of mutual interest.
