Pierre Gasly has signed a multi-year extension with Formula One team Alpine, the French outfit said on Thursday.

“I feel very much at home at this great team. I enjoy being a real part of both the Formula 1 project and the wider Alpine Cars vision,” the French driver said.

Gasly joined the French squad at the start of last season, scoring 67 points over that 18-month period including third in the 2023 Belgian GP Sprint and third in the Dutch Grand Prix later that year.

“I’ve been officially here for over 18 months and it has always been the plan to build a long-term project with the team. While on-track it’s been a challenging season so far, I remain faithful to the project and I am not going anywhere,” he said.

Alpine are seventh in the constructors’ championship with only eight points from 10 races this year.

It’s unclear who will be Gasly’s team-mate next season. Alpine recently announced they are parting ways with Esteban Ocon at the end of this year.

According to media reports, the team has been trying to sign Carlos Saiz, who will leave Ferrari at the end of 2024 as he will be replaced by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Aston Martin retain

Stroll ‘into new F1 era’

Aston Martin said on Thursday that Lance Stroll will continue to race for the team “into the new era of Formula One regulations” in 2026, ending speculation over his future.

Stroll signed a contract extension and will continue to partner with team-mate Fernando Alonso.

“I’m super happy to have committed to staying with the team for 2025 and beyond. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in the last five years; we’ve grown so much as a team and there’s still so much more to look forward to,” he said.

Stroll made his F1 debut with Williams back in 2017, spending two seasons with the team before switching to Racing Point, which became Aston Martin for 2021 following the team’s purchase by a consortium led by his father, Lawrence Stroll.

Aston Martin are fifth in the constructors’ standings, with 58 points from 10 races.

The 2026 season could be a turning point for the sport, with major regulation changes coming into force.
