Steigenberger Hotel Doha, in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation, is set to organise a blood donation drive in Berlin Ballroom on the first floor of the hotel on July 3. The event will be held from 1pm to 5pm.

“This event aligns with our commitment to social responsibility and community health. We invite our guests and members of the local community to join us in this life-saving initiative,” said a statement from Steigenberger Hotel Doha.

The initiative is part of Steigenberger Hotels Doha’s ongoing efforts to give back to the community and support nationwide health initiatives. The event is structured to ensure a safe and secure donation environment, guided by professionals from Hamad Medical Corporation.

Regarding the eligibility criteria for donors, the statement said that they should be aged between 18 and 65 years and in good health on the day of donation. The donors have also been advised to have slept at least 6 hours and consumed a light meal before donating.

The organisers further said that adhering to international health standards and the guidelines of the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB), individuals from malaria-endemic regions must defer donation for six months.

Besides, post-vaccination, individuals can donate after 24 hours, provided they are symptom-free.

“Through this blood donation drive, we aim to bolster the local blood supply and demonstrate the power of community in saving lives,” said Sherief Abouelmagd, the Cluster General Manager at Steigenberger Hotel Doha. “We are committed to supporting health and wellness in our community, and we encourage everyone eligible to participate in this vital event for the community.”
