Recently, a new band was formed and seen performing in different Filipino community events. Using beat box and guitar, the group called Tripod band promotes acoustic music with a Filipino touch.
The group was also featured as guest performer at an event organised by Mezza Restaurant for its diners on the occasion of Philippine Independence Day. They serenaded the patrons of the famous Filipino eatery.
"The group was formed in December 2017. The name Tripod refers to the three original performers of the band. The name is also inspired by the passion for photography of two of the band members," said Ronnie Castro, Tripod Road Manager who is also a known photographer in the community.
Tripod includes Glenn Wagas Sugarol as lead singer and beat box performer. A native of Cebu City, he came to Doha in 2013 to work as an account staff. His previous experience of performing with a band helps in his motivation to further promote the fresh concept they bring in to the local entertainment scene. Glenn and Ronnie actually conceptualised Tripod during their regular coffee meet-up.
They were later joined by Nathaniel Carlo Reyes as lead guitarist. He grew up in Limay, Bataan and came to Doha in 2005. He has been working as a sales advisor in an automotive company. Isagani Penaranda, works as a draftsman while another member Edson Torrefranca, who plays the rhythm guitar, is working as a sales representative.
Tripod is expected to be part of more events in the community as they continue to enhance their skills and indulge their love for music.
