Syed Asim Naveed Bukhari, the Senior Assistant Principal at Bright Future International School (BFIS), has been named ‘International School Leader of the Year 2024’ for the Middle East Region at the Pearson International School Teacher Awards 2024.

The announcement was made during a virtual consortium organised by Pearson UK in June in the presence of seasoned educationists from around the globe.

The regional head of Pearson Edexcel, Ameena Soysa has announced that she will present the certificate and award to Asim Bukhari in person during her visit to BFIS in Doha in September, 2024.

Among thousands of nominees globally, this prestigious accolade recognises Asim Bukhari’s exceptional contributions to educational leadership and innovation. This award is granted to the leaders who create an exceptional teaching and learning environment for their students and staff, who are taking innovative approaches to leadership and leading by example and strengthening their school communities as a result.

“Education is not just about imparting knowledge, it’s about inspiring curiosity, fostering innovation, and preparing students to be global citizens. Our role as educators is to create an environment where every student can discover their potential and develop the skills to thrive in an ever-changing world,” remarked Asim Bukhari upon receiving the award.

Asim Bukhari added, “I am profoundly thankful to the BFIS Chairman Abdur Rahman Al-Meer and BFIS Principal Ali Zulqarnain for their unwavering support and guidance throughout my journey. Their visionary leadership and commitment to educational excellence have been instrumental in shaping my approach and enabling me to achieve this recognition.”

Asim Bukhari’s impressive academic background includes an M.Phil in Education Leadership and Management. While completing his Master of Education, he was awarded two Gold Medals -- one for being the Best Student of the University and another for achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA. He also holds an M.Sc in Biology from PMAS Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

As a Fulbright scholarship recipient, Asim Bukhari received training in innovative teaching methods at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. His international experience includes work at renowned institutions in the US and the UAE.

Asim Bukhari’s career at BFIS began in 2014 as an A Level Biology Teacher. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Head of Department, Senior Section Coordinator, and now serves as Assistant Principal of the Senior Section.

Earlier, he represented Qatar at the International Brain Bee Competition in Denmark in 2016. He secured second place in the Research Competition at Weill Cornell Medical College for two consecutive years (2017 and 2019). He received multiple ‘Best Teacher’ awards for excellent results in A Levels at BFIS and IGCSE Biology at Islamia English School, Abu Dhabi. He was recognised as the ‘Most Professional and Dedicated Teacher’ at International Community School, Abu Dhabi.

Asim Bukhari’s commitment to education extends beyond the classroom. He served as a Liaison Officer in the 2004 SAF Games in Islamabad, earning a silver medal for his contributions. More recently, he volunteered in the FIFA Arab Cup and served as a Team Leader in the FIFA World Cup 2022.

This award not only highlights Asim Bukhari’s personal achievements but also underscores the Middle East’s growing prominence in global education. His innovative approaches and dedication to providing quality learning experiences set a new benchmark for educational excellence in the region and beyond.
