ASTANA: His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President of the friendly Republic of Kazakhstan HE Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held an official session of talks on Wednesday at the Ak Orda Presidential Palace in the capital, Astana.
At the beginning of the session, the president of Kazakhstan welcomed His Highness the Amir and the accompanying delegation, appreciating His Highness’s acceptance of the invitation to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit. Healso expressed his aspiration to enhance relations between the two friendly countries at various levels and areas of bilateral cooperation.
For his part, His Highness the Amir expressed his sincere thanks to the president for the warm reception and the invitation to participate in the summit. His Highness the Amir expressed his happiness with the level of cooperation and friendship between the two countries, which he looks forward to pushing to broader horizons through the visit, in a way that achieves the interests of the two friendly peoples.
The discussions dealt with developing and strengthening cooperation, in addition to exchanging views on the most prominent regional and international developments of common interest.
His Highness the Amir and the Kazakh president also exchanged views on the issues and topics on the agenda of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.
The session was attended by Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani,Minister of State for Energy Affairs HESaad bin Sherida Al Kaabi,Minister of Commerce and Industry HESheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HESultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, and several members of the official delegation.
The Kazakh side was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtuliu, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Qatari-Kazakh Joint High CommitteeSerik Jumangarin, Assistant to the President of the Republic for Foreign AffairsYerzhan Kazkhan,Minister of FinanceErulan Dzhamaubayev, Minister of EnergyAlmazkadam Satkaliev, and senior officials.
His Highness the Amir and the Kazakh President held a bilateral meeting during which they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two friendly countries and several issues of mutual interest.
His Highness the Amir also attended a dinner banquet hosted by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Presidential Centre, in honour of the heads of state and governments participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.
