The Diplomatic Institute (DI) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), in collaboration with Georgetown University in Qatar and the Embassy of Qatar in the United States, organised an academic visit to Washington, DC for distinguished diplomats from MoFA enrolled in the Executive Masters Programme in Diplomacy and International Affairs.
During the visit, the participants attended several lectures on topics of importance to diplomats and professionals in international affairs. They also held meetings with officials and decision-makers at major US political institutions. Additionally, the programme participants and representatives of the DI met with officials at the White House, the US Department of State, and various think tanks.
Director of the DI Dr Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Horr emphasised the importance of academic visits in learning about best global practices and experiences. He reiterated the Institute’s commitment to developing the human resources at the MoFA to perform the Qatari diplomatic role excellently.
Participants, on their part, affirmed that the academic visit to Washington provided them with the opportunity to acquire important knowledge and skills in the field of diplomacy and international affairs.
