Berlin: The man who climbed under the roof of the Dortmund stadium during Germany’s last-16 win over Denmark on Saturday was not the first one as police confirmed a similar incident four days earlier at the same venue.

Dortmund police spokesman Peter Bandermann told dpa on Wednesday that a Polish fan was caught under the roof as well during his team’s group match against France on June 25.

“The man was brought to the stadium police office by stewards. Criminal proceedings for trespassing were initiated,” Bandermann said.

An internet video shows the man walking down the catwalk under the roof which is reserved for technicians. It is unclear how he got there. In Saturday’s incident, a man was spotted climbing on the beams under the roof. Police kept him under surveillance until the end of the match, when a special task force removed and arrested the 21-year-old. He said he wanted to take photos.

Police said he may have to pay for the police operation he triggered. The ruling body UEFA said after that incident it was reviewing security measures.

UEFA said on Wednesday it is also has knowledge of a another security incident in which stewards allegedly turned violent against fans during Monday’s last 16 match between Portugal and Slovenia in Frankfurt. UEFA said it would not comment further as a police investigation has been launched. Frankfurt police said they were probing on suspicion of bodily harm.
