The Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund celebrated the International Day of Women in Diplomacy by organising an event to honour women leaders in the labour diplomacy field, who have contributed to enhancing international relations and labour rights globally.

The event to mark the occasion highlighted the State of Qatar’s commitment to enhancing women’s roles in diplomacy and recognising women’s efforts in supporting the Fund’s goals and activities.

The event highlights the State of Qatar’s appreciation for the valuable contributions of women in achieving the country’s strategic goals in the fields of labour and diplomacy, along with underscoring the Fund’s commitment to supporting them in doing so.

It also came in the context of Qatar’s continuous efforts to strengthen women’s roles across various fields, as well as to achieve equality and sustainable development in society.

The celebration included a speech by Executive Director of the Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund, Kholoud Saif Abdullah Al Kubaisi, and another by the head of the International Labour Organisation Office in Qatar, Max Tunon, on this significant occasion, in addition to a panel discussion on the achievements of and challenges for women in labour diplomacy.

The honouring event concluded with the announcement of a new programme to be launched in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation and the Social Development Centre - Nama in the 1st quarter of 2025, to train and empower low-income migrant women on saving and starting small business projects.

In this context, Nama Centre Executive Director Ghanim bin Salah Al Ali emphasised the Centre’s commitment to implementing such developmental programmes and opening up new wide and important horizons, part of the global trend of supporting small and medium-sized projects for low-income individuals and assisting migrant women to start up small businesses, in addition to enhancing the role of social work organisations in providing diverse and new employment opportunities.

The Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund seeks to foster productive partnerships with women leaders toward building a better future for workers and communities nationally and internationally.

The Fund is a pioneering government initiative aimed at promoting workers’ rights and improving their living conditions, as well as providing them with support and protection through a range of services and initiatives to raise their standard of living.

The Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund also strives to achieve Qatar’s vision of creating a society characterised by social and economic justice for all.
