The Pambansang Samahan ng Inhenyero Mekanical (PSIM) or National Association of Mechanical Engineers hosted the first-ever PSIM International Mechanical Engineering Conference (PIMEC) on June 16-17, at Abesq Hotel, Doha.

"This year’s theme, ‘PSIM: A Convergence of Truth, Strength, and Knowledge for the Progression of Glocal Filipino Mechanical Engineers’, embodies our mission to empower our members in their professional pursuits. As Filipino mechanical engineers working abroad, we must adapt, innovate, and equip ourselves with the essential skills to thrive in the digital era. This convergence of truth, strength, and knowledge is our guiding light, ensuring that our contributions uplift the general welfare, drive economic growth, and achieve our collective aspirations for global recognition,” said Cesar Ternida, PME, MBA, PMP - PSIM National Vice President-International and 2023 Qatar Chapter Charter President, 2022.

"What used to be a dream to gather all Filipino mechanical engineers here in Doha, Qatar, has now become a reality despite the challenges PSIM faced. Our International Conference Committee, along with its dedicated officers and members, took the necessary actions to bring this dream to fruition,” added Ternida.

Philippine President

The President of the Republic of the Philippines, Hon. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., also conveyed his message to PSIM for this milestone celebration. The President said, "I am enthusiastic to witness the dynamic exchange of ideas and insights during the 1st PSIM International Mechanical Engineering Conference (1PIMEC), a landmark gathering that draws participants from different international chapters, such as the United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. May you further promote the convergence of truth, strength, and knowledge to reinforce the growth of your field and ensure the adoption of the latest research and innovations that will transform you into truly global Filipino mechanical engineers.”

Message from the Philippine Ambassador to Qatar

For her part, Philippine Ambassador to Qatar HE Lillibeth Pono said, "I have always said that in the Middle East, Filipino engineers have an outsized role in helping spur the economies of countries in a region beset by challenging conditions. Renowned for their world-class talent and creativity, Filipino engineers have been instrumental in the transformation of this region into what it is today.”

She joined the officers and personnel of the Philippine Embassy in Qatar in congratulating the PSIM Qatar Chapter for its successful convening of the 1PIMEC.

1PIMEC Programme

The 1st PSIM International Mechanical Engineering Conference was held in two days with a series of activities. It started with an opening and ribbon cutting ceremonies, followed by the Banner Parade of all participants.

Some of the event highlights for Day 1 were the welcome address by Invites Conference Chairman Engr. Ritzie Argota, Inspirational Message from PSIM National President Engr. Joel Mendez, oath taking ceremony for New PMEs, Lectures by Keynote Speakers, Awarding of the Speaker, closing remarks and announcement for succeeding activities by Engr. Francis Louie Rosete.

On Day 2, the activities included more seminars by keynote speakers, presentation of appreciation awards, acknowledgment of SPLE RME Aspirants, 1st PIMEC report presentation, announcement of the next (2nd) PIMEC, acceptance by the 2nd PIMEC Chairmanship and closing remarks by Engr. Francis Louie Rosete.

The event was graced by Cong. Ron Salo - Kabayan Partylist, Former Kabayan Cong. Bishop Paul Hernandez, Hon. Roduldo Tablante - PRBME Chairman, Hon. Manuel Paulino, Member, PRBME, Engr. Jerico Borja - PRBME Former Member, Engr. Lorenzo Larion - PRBME Former Member, Engr. Joel Mendez - PSIM National President 2024, Engr. Rowell Somido - PSIM VP International 2024, Engr. Servando III, Relente - Former PSIM National VP International 2022, and Engr Cesar Ternida - Former National VP Intl 2023 and 1st PIMEC Chairman.

PSIM 1st IMEC was granted 12 approved CPD units by the PRC BME CPD Council.
