DOHA: Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi hailed the diverse activities of summer centres and the engagement of students with their peers in those centres, which would promote the students' positive behaviours and advance their various skills and talents.
This came during her inspection visit to the summer centre at Khalifa Secondary School for Boys to review the activities and programmes offered by the summer centres to students during summer vacation in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
The minister lauded the strategic partnership between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) and the Ministry of Sports in operationalizing these centres, highlighting that the sublime objective of these centres is to encourage students to invest in their leisure time during summer vacation to optimally engage in beneficial activities.
For his part, Minister of Sports and Youth HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani underlined the importance of summer activities and their role in helping young people flexibly handle the current requirements and diligently address the challenges, affirming that youth institutions in Qatar are proud of their records that abound with many supporting tools for the Qatari youth and empowering them through a social approach that includes them in the society and offers training opportunities, as well as support for summer and public activities.
The summer centres began their activities on July 1and featured 1,109 participants from both genders in the first week of activities, held in seven public schools. The events included a multitude of programmes that best suited their diverse age groups, foremost of which were intellectual, physical, kinetic, art, social, awareness-raising, and technological activities.
In addition, such activities help build students' balanced personalities and hone their wide-ranging skills, in addition to training them on engagement, shouldering responsibility and serving society.
The school centres were equipped with highly trained administrative and educational crews to efficiently operate them during their full swing from Jul.1 to Aug. 8. Each centre accommodates 300 students daily for 4 hours, from 9am to 1pm.
Twenty-three centres and youth organizations distributed nationwide are witnessing significant participation from our students. These centres and organizations offer various activities and programs provided by various entities, including Friends of the Environment Center, Qatar Scientific Club, Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center (Aman), and the Ministry of Interior.
The activities held in these centres and organizations aim to cater to all interests and guide our students to invest their vacation time in activities that enhance their talents and creative skills.
