DOHA: Minister of Interior, and the Commander of the Internal Security Force 'Lekhwiya', HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani met with the Qatari security forces participating in securing the 2024 Paris Olympics.
He urged the security forces, composed of leaders, experts, and security specialists, alongside members of specialized teams and units, to utilize all their capabilities and the expertise they have gained over the years to ensure the success of securing the event.
He pointed out that Qatari national cadres have garnered global attention, especially after Qatar's unparalleled success in hosting various international events according to the highest international security standards.
The minister conveyed greetings and directives from His Highness the Amir of Qatar, emphasizing that their mission in France is an extension of their responsibilities and tasks in Qatar.
He stressed the importance of their role in maintaining security and cooperating with everyone, noting that they represent not only Qatar but also the Arab and Islamic nation, in France.
During the meeting, the minister reviewed the final preparations of the Qatari security forces for their participation in securing the event, under the administrative agreement for security cooperation between Qatar and the French Republic. This affirms the experience gained by the Qatari security forces in organizing and securing major international events.
He listened to a detailed explanation from team leaders and specialized units about the tasks that the force will undertake according to specific operational plans and arrangements for their participation in securing the event, in coordination with the organizing committee and relevant committees.
The Qatari security forces participate in security operations with elements representing various specialized security groups and units, including the Special Forces Unit (Lafdawiya), the Personal Protection Group, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group, the Cyber Security Unit, in addition to security patrol units and fantasy patrols, counter-drone teams, planning teams, supply teams, airport security teams, along with the Command and Control Center and the International Police Cooperation Center (IPCC).
This reflects the strength and resilience of the growing strategic partnership between Qatar and the French Republic, especially in security fields.
It's worth noting that the Qatari security forces have completed a specialized training programme to prepare for their participation in securing the Paris 2024 Olympics, which lasted for three weeks and included various training courses, workshops, and case studies based on real events and situations witnessed by the French Republic and countries that hosted previous Olympic Games, in order to draw lessons learned.
