THE Qatari Armed Forces (QAF) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the DLI Institute of Languages of the United States Armed Forces to establish its first branch outside the United States of America in Doha to serve the armed forces and its associates from sisterly and friendly countries worldwide.
The MoU signing was attended by Major-General Fahd bin Mubarak al Khayarin, commander of Ahmed Bin Mohammed Military College (chairman of the DLI Project Management Team); Ryan Kleha, Chargd'Affaires, Embassy of the United States in Doha; Brigadier-General Ibrahim Khalifa al Mannai, commander of the Armed Forces Languages Institute and Col David Keesey, military attache at the US embassy.
Major-General Fahd al Khayarin said that the project came under the directives of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohammed al Attiyah, who pays special attention to education and training, with following up by the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces HE Major-General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen al Ghanem.
The project aims to contribute to the realisation of the Qatar National Vision 2030 in human development, to enhance the strategic vision of the armed forces and to develop their human capital to support their readiness and capabilities in dealing with the latest technological developments and to make them a deterrent force to protect the security and independence of Qatar.
"The project is a pioneering experience in the Qatari Armed Forces and at the same time represents a roadmap to help transform Qatar into an advanced society capable of achieving sustainable development," said Major-Gen Fahd bin Mubarak al Khayarin.
