Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of scores of Palestinians, according to Palestinian reports. At least 17 Palestinians were killed and 26 more injured when tents were hit in the town of Khan Younis in the south of the coastal region, according to medical sources in Gaza.

Around 23 people were also killed and around 73 others injured in an airstrike on a school run by the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a Telegram post that terrorists were operating from the school there."Prior to the strike, numerous steps were taken in order to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including the use of aerial surveillance, precise munitions, and additional intelligence,” the post said.

The Israeli army also commented on the Khan Younis strike, saying it had targeted "a company commander in the Islamic Jihad’s Naval Unit.” "We are looking into the reports stating that several civilians were injured as a result of the strike,” the IDF said.

Hamas has issued a statement denouncing Israel’s "deliberate bombing of displaced people in UNRWA’s al-Razi School in the Nuseirat camp, and the Al-Mawasi area west of the city of Khan Younis, which was declared a safe area”. page 5
