DOHA: The Qatari sports delegation participating in the Olympic Games Paris 2024 running from July 26 to August 11 aims to achieve commendable results, fielding teams from five federations: athletics, volleyball, shooting, weightlifting, and swimming.

In exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Chef De Mission of Qatar delegation participating in the Olympics Mohammed Saeed Al Misnad said that preparations are proceeding well in anticipation of this month's competitions.

Al Misnad mentioned that the final preparations are divided into two main aspects.

Firstly, the administrative aspect managed by the Qatar Olympic Committee through the delegation's logistics team, which arranges all matters related to arrival in Paris, entry into the Olympic Village, and the provision of optimal essential services for athletes, support staff, and administration.

Secondly, the technical aspect pertains to the preparations of participating athletes, ensuring they are well-prepared through various preparatory tournaments, such as high jump champion Mutaz Barshim's recent participation in Vienna.

He emphasized the importance of allowing all Qatari athletes participating in the Olympics to undergo final preparations in Europe to acclimatize to the environment, explaining that this will have a significant positive impact on the athletes by facilitating proper sleep, training routines, and climate adaptation, highlighting the crucial role of such factors in athletes' performance and mental presence during official competitions.

Al Misnad expressed confidence in the ability of Qatar's champions to continue their efforts to achieve more medals in the Olympic Games, adding that the historic achievement in the previous edition held in Tokyo 2020, where Qatar won three medals (two gold and one bronze), serves as a significant motivation to pursue more medals in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

He affirmed that expectations and ambitions have risen, wishing success and luck to all athletes to replicate this achievement.

The head of the Qatari sports delegation stated that Qatar successfully topped the Arab and Gulf medal tally in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which marks the best performance in Qatar's participation history.

He believes this will serve as a positive drive and motivation for athletes to continue winning medals.

He emphasized that qualifying for the Olympic Games is a great honour for any athlete and an opportunity eagerly awaited by all sportsmen, urging all athletes representing Qatar in the Olympics to enjoy their experience in Paris 2024 and to present their best performances to represent their country in the best possible manner.
