Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Qatar HE Md Nazrul Islam met Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Badr Mohammed Al Meer at the airline’s headquarters in Doha yesterday. During the meeting, a number of issues of common interest were discussed.

After exchange of usual courtesies, Ambassador HE Md Nazrul Islam congratulated the Group CEO for his successful leadership of Qatar Airways (QA) and the remarkable achievement of QA winning the World’s Best Airline title for 2024. He then recalled the successful visit of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Bangladesh in April 2024. In this context, he also mentioned the two successive visits of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Qatar last year.

The Group CEO of Qatar Airways warmly welcomed the Bangladesh envoy at his office and expressed happiness with the existing friendly relations between the two brotherly countries. He also expressed utmost satisfaction about the outcomes of the recently concluded successful visit of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Bangladesh. The two dignitaries opined that the longstanding bilateral ties between two brotherly countries will be elevated to new heights with these historic visits.

HE Md Nazrul Islam lauded the Group CEO for Qatar Airways flights to Dhaka. He hoped that Qatar Airways would consider operating flights to the other big cities of Bangladesh including Chittagong. He added that the Bangladeshi community, the second largest expatriate group in Qatar, highly benefited from the Qatar Airways services. The Group CEO of Qatar Airways expressed his satisfaction and gratefulness for the presence and contributions of the expatriate Bangladeshi community. Organising joint promotional and awareness building events in future with the participation of the Bangladeshi as well as the host community, besides and Qatar Airways, was also discussed.

The meeting was held in a very congenial environment and ended with the assurances of continued support and cooperation from both sides.Deputy Chief of Mission, Waliur Rahman, First Secretary Abdullah Al Razi, Second Secretary Md. Nashir Uddin and senior officials of Qatar Airways were present during the meeting.
