The Qatar Scouts and Guides Association recently concluded its participation in the European scout camp (JAMSCOUT 2024), held in the province of Soria, Spain, from July 13 to 21.

The camp saw young Qatari scouts aged 14 to 17 years participating in a range of educational and cultural activities, culminating in a closing ceremony attended by over 8,000 people, including organiders and invitees. The Qatari delegation included 20 scout leaders.

Ghanim Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, head of the Qatari scout delegation, emphasised that their participation in JAMSCOUT 2024 aligned with the association’s strategic goals to engage scouts in global events and maintain Qatar’s presence in international scouting. This involvement aims to enhance the skills of Qatari scouts and provide them with new experiences in the scouting field.

Al Kuwari noted that the event offered a valuable opportunity to exchange expertise with international scout associations and to highlight Qatar’s rich cultural heritage and its prominent status on the global stage. The participation also underscored Qatar’s modern renaissance under its wise leadership.

Scouters Hamad Youssef Al Amri and Hizam Al Musleh reflected on their participation, which they saw as a significant achievement. They highlighted that raising Qatar’s flag at the event and participating in various contests showcased the skills and capabilities of Qatari scouts, who successfully navigated challenges and interacted with peers from around the world.

The association won numerous scouting badges in various fields, marking a milestone in the history of every participating scout and leader. The event also provided a prime opportunity to learn about diverse cultures and experiences in a single forum. Additionally, the event helped introduce Qatar’s rich traditions and customs through various programmes, activities, events, arts and scouting trends.
