PARIS: The Qatari beach volleyball team, consisting of the duo Sherif Younes and Ahmed Tijan, will begin on Saturday, its journey in the 33rd edition of the Summer Olympic Games (Paris 2024), by facing the Italian duo, in the first group competitions.
The Qatari team prepared well for this competition by participating in several world championships and tours, in which it achieved the best results that enabled it to directly qualify for Paris 2024.
The Qatari team seeks to achieve victory in order to get an ideal start in its first match, to repeat its previous achievements by adding a new medal for Qatar, after winning the bronze in Tokyo 2020.
The Qatari team will play its second match, against its Swedish counterpart, consisting of Hallman and Helvig, on the 29th of this month, before concluding the group stage by meeting the Australian team, consisting of Nicolaides and Karacher, onAugust 1.
The Qatari national team is the best ranked Arab and Asian team and one of the best teams in the world.
The Qatari team won the gold medal at the Asian Games twice: Jakarta 2018 and Hangzhou 2023.
It is noteworthy that the Qatari national team duo, Sherif Younes and Ahmed Tijan, had previously won the bronze medal in the last Olympic Games hosted by Tokyo 2020.
