The outage at 8.35pm on Friday was due to public works conducted by an Ashghal contractor, who inadvertently damaged one of its main lines, Ooredoo Qatar has said.

In a social media post, the telecom company thanked its customers for their understanding and cooperation on Friday, following a connectivity disruption which occurred at 8:35pm.

"The outage was due to public works conducted by an Ashghal contractor, who inadvertently damaged one of our main lines. Upon being notified, our technical team promptly responded and restored services,” it said in the statement.

Ooredoo Qatar said it will be working "closely with the Communications Regulatory Authority and Ashghal to ensure that such incidents do not reoccur and that our network infrastructure remains safeguarded”.

"Once again, we apologise for the disruption which was beyond our control and thank our customers for their understanding.”
