Team Qatar swimmer Abdulaziz Al Obaidly participated in the 100m breaststroke qualifying at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Saturday finishing sixth in Heat 2 clocking 1:04.31.

Al Obaidly later said that he had a good participation and was satisfied with his performance against world’s best swimmers but seeks to improve and reach the best. He explained, “The atmosphere was wonderful and the fans were present in large numbers, even though we are in the qualifying stage, let alone what will happen when the finals come... I felt as if we were in a football stadium.”

He stressed, “The fans’ cheers were wonderful, and the presence of my father, who is my biggest supporter, as well as my mother, was very influential for me.”

Qatar’s international swimming referee Jassim Al Abdullah is participating as an official at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Al Abdullah was present with Qatar swimmer Abdulaziz Al Obaidly during his event.

Khalil Al Jaber, President of the Qatar Swimming Federation, said that Qatari swimming participation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is a crowning and honour for the federation after achieving positive results in the recent regional and continental championships. The presence of Abdulaziz Al Obaidly and referee Jassim Abdullah is the best evidence of that, he said

Al Hammadi to officiate at Olympic shooting for a third successive time

The International Shooting Federation has chosen international referee Abdullah bin Ali Al Mutawa Al Hammadi of Qatar to officiate at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Al Hammadi previously managed the shooting competitions at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 besides other world and continental championships, amid great praise from the International Federation’s Refereeing Department, which expressed its confidence in our international referee on more than one occasion.
