DOHA: Ten Qatari students in the eleventh grade who study the Japanese language as an optional subject, are attending the Japanese Language and Culture Summer Camp 2024, held at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and Tsukuba University, in Japan.

The camp primarily intends to help students practise the Japanese language, internalise the Japanese culture, engage in wide-ranging activities of the summer programme to further promote their characters and increase their awareness of the opportunities available for them to enrol in higher education institutions in Japan, culminating in career chances for them in the future.

The camp's study programme meets the students' needs for Japanese and English languages and is held as part of executing the expansion project in teaching foreign languages to public school students.

The programme comprises 60-hour extensive lessons and online lectures, cultural exchange through practising the language with students of the Japanese schools, engaging with supervisors, as well as organising field, cultural and scientific trips.

The participating students affirmed that they are glad to participate in this camp and benefit from its diverse activities to refine their linguistic skills, along with the huge opportunities for self-reliance, in addition to learning and respecting foreign cultures, values and devotion to work.
