South Korea edged China to win a 10th straight women’s archery team event gold medal on Sunday which equalled the longest active win streak for a nation in an event at the summer Olympics.

The South Korean trio of Jeon Hunyoung, Lim Sihyeon and Nam Suhyeon led by two sets but the Chinese roared back to tie before the Koreans prevailed 5-4 after posting 29 from 30 possible points in the shoot-out to China’s 27.

South Korea are unbeaten in the women’s team event which made its debut at the Seoul home Games in 1988, and have won 18 of the 19 overall Olympic women’s events in the period.

The 10 team golds in a row match the US men’s 4x100m medley swim team, the Olympic news service said.
