Qatar Museums (QM) has announced an engaging array of workshops, camps and exhibitions designed to offer enriching indoor experiences for both children and adults throughout the month of August.

M7, in collaboration with Liwan, is excited to present a dynamic five-day summer camp centred on the theme of character development and storytelling.

Kids Summer Camp at M7 & Liwan (August 21 to 27, 2024 | 9am to 1:30pm): This five-day summer camp will focus on the theme of character development and storytelling. Participants will utilise different hands-on creative practices to bring their imagined characters to life. At the end of the camp, children will have the opportunity to talk about their creations and showcase their works to their families.

The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) will host storytelling sessions, various art workshops for children and adults, and a Family Day activity.

Family Day: Science (August 10, 2024 | 3pm to 5pm): Join MIA for a monthly Family Day, taking place at MIA Atrium. For August’s Family Day, learn more about science. Free to attend, no registration required.

Workshop: Creative work by Arabic Calligraphy (August 18, 2024 | 4pm to 6pm): Explore the beauty of calligraphy by making your fine art piece. You can choose a text from the Museum collections and write it on glossy ornament paper. The workshop will provide the required materials. To register, contact: [email protected]

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art will host a series of workshops designed to nurture and inspire your creative side.

Workshop: Mixed Media with Fabric (For ages 15 and above; August 17 and 24, 2024| 3pm to 5pm): This workshop is designed to ignite your imagination and empower you to create stunning artwork rich in texture and depth. You will experiment with various materials, including paints, papers and found objects, to create dynamic compositions.

Cartooning for Critical Thinkers (August 8, 2024 | 4pm to 6pm and August 10, 2024 | 11am to 2pm): Join us in this dynamic workshop led by renowned satirical cartoonist Khalid Albaih. Participants will embark on an immersive journey into the realm of political cartooning.

Regardless of prior experience, attendees will uncover the fundamental techniques of cartoon creation in a world of disinformation.

The National Museum of Qatar (NMOQ) will organise an informative and entertaining workshop on Cybersecurity along with a few more other interesting workshops, storytelling sessions and summer camps

Workshop: Minecraft Education – Cybersecurity (for ages 9 to 15; August 18, 2024 | 10am to 1pm): Experience a computer science adventure in the world of museums. Join NMOQ for an exciting event in Minecraft education where you will code, create and solve problems. Engaging and interactive lessons within the Minecraft world will have you developing valuable coding skills while having fun. Learn about cybersecurity and enhance your skills to face the digital tomorrow.

Storytelling: The Farmer who saved the Village (August 2 and 3, 2024 | 4pm to 7pm): Join the storytelling session about the farmer Khalil who saved the village. This story highlights on not giving up, determined in one’s work and the manners of tolerance and forgiveness.

To make this summer more fun and entertaining, 3-2-1 Olympic & Sports Museum will host a 3 2 1 Summer Olympic Festival and a Storytelling Programme.

3-2-1 Summer Olympic Festival (For kids and adults; Till August 4, 2024 | 4pm to 6pm): The Activation Zone at the 3-2-1- Qatar Olympic & Sports Museum has prepared some unforgettable, fun and educational Olympics sports for kids and adults to enjoy.

Just drop in. No registration required

Storytelling: Game, Set, Sisters! (August 31, 2024 | 4pm to 5pm): This month’s storytelling session features the book, “Game, Set, Sisters!” by Jay Leslie. The book will be read aloud to children aged seven to 11, providing a magical experience that sparks imagination and fosters a love of reading. No registration required

Qatar Museums’ Archeology and Heritage Department will host summer camps titled ‘Artefacts Workshop’ for children and adults. The programmes will be held at Liwan.

Summer Camp: Artefacts Workshop (for kids; August 12, 2024 | 10:30am to 12pm): What happens to objects discovered after a dig? Help archaeologists sort pottery according to its shape, size, material, colour and wear patterns and discover what the objects are used for! The workshop is free, but slots are limited. Please bring a filled, reusable water bottle.
