Under the auspices of the Department of Youth Affairs at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the youth body at Al Rayyan Sports Club organised an awareness course highlighting the harms of narcotic substances and its goal of curbing their use under the title ‘No to Drugs.’

The most effectiveways for young people to avoid falling prey to drugs were discussed. They included exercising, not going into isolation, choosing good company, regularly offering prayers and developing religious faith. They also included filling free time with useful things such as participating in clubs and youth centre activities. This workshop is considered one of the best that clubs, youth centres and institutions can present to their members to spread awareness of the danger of drugs and the necessity of staying away from them.

Faisal Al Hammadi, head of the youth team at Al Rayyan Club, stressed the importance of the workshop in educating young people about the harms of drugs and their far reaching negative effects. “Young people must make good use of their free time and benefit by participating in useful cultural, sporting or other summer activities,” Hammadi said. Warning against bad friends who play a major role in trapping children and pushing them towards drugs, he noted that the club’s youth body is always keen to hold meaningful lectures on topics of interest to young people and attract the largest number of participants to attend them.
