DOHA: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced that the strict monitoring efforts to verify the competence and eligibility of health practitioners wishing to work in the health sector in Qatar revealed 83 health practitioners who submitted incorrect or misleading certificates to obtain a licence to practise the profession in Qatar during 2022 and 2023. These violations were detected before their owners obtained a licence to practise the profession, and they were also included in the blacklist that does not allow them to work in the health sector in Qatar at all.
Dr Saad Al Kaabi, Director of the Department of Health Specialties at the Ministry of Public Health, explained that most of the attempts to mislead were in the certificates of experience in terms of the job title, the number of years of experience, or the size and classification of the entity in which the health practitioner worked, in addition to forgery in some certificates and academic qualifications that are obtained from unreliable institutions and misleading in the results of qualifying exams (prometric), noting that the violations include all categories and specialities such as doctors, nurses and practitioners of allied medical professions.
He stressed that the Ministry of Public Health follows a unified methodology characterized by fairness, objectivity and transparency in investigating these acts that offend health practitioners and are inconsistent with the ethics and morals of the profession.
He added: "A blacklist has also been prepared that includes health facilities and institutions that grant practitioners incorrect or misleading certificates, as no certificate issued by any of the facilities included in this list will be accepted."
He pointed out that all health facilities and institutions that have granted incorrect certificates of experience are located outside of Qatar.
The Ministry of Public Health is keen to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety of health services provided in the country, as it regulates the work of health practitioners, and works to improve the quality of health care and ensure patient safety.
