Canada’s 17-year-old Summer McIntosh claimed her second gold medal at the Paris Games with a win in the women’s 200-metre butterfly on Thursday.

McIntosh claimed the lead in the final 50m and set a new Olympic record of 2 minutes 03.03 seconds. Silver went to Regan Smith of the United States, who repeated her result from the Tokyo Games.

Previous Olympic record holder Zhang Yufei of China took bronze.

McIntosh had already claimed 400m medley gold and 400m freestyle silver in Paris.

Hungary’s Kos powers through 200m backstroke

Hungary’s Hubert Kós had an incredible recovery in the final metres of the men’s 200-metre backstroke to take his nation’s first gold medal.

Greece’s Apostolos Christou was on course to win, but Kós found some extra energy late in the race to take the lead and finish it in 1 minute 54.26 seconds. Christou finished 0.56 behind and took silver, Greece’s best result in Paris so far, while bronze went to Roman Mityukov of Switzerland.
