Femke Bol stayed on her feet this time around to give the Netherlands a dramatic Olympic 4x400 mixed relay gold with a sensational finish from behind.

A year after tumbling to the ground while fighting for gold in the world championship final, the 400m hurdles specialist Bol roared from third to first on the home straight, easily passing American anchor Kaylyn Brown.

The Dutch clocked 3 minutes 7.43 seconds, missing the world record set by the Americans the previous day, by a mere two hundredths of a second.

The US took silver .31 back and the bronze went to Britain.

Team USA did better just minutes earlier when Ryan Crouser claimed an unprecedented third straight men’s shot put gold with 22.90m ahead of long time rival and team-mate Joe Kovacs.
