Islamabad: Pakistani authorities have launched a special free bus service for female students and teachers in the capital to address transportation issues in the South Asian nation that often serve as a barrier to girls’ education.

Pink buses bearing the slogan "No Fear, No Barrier” will be transporting around 8,000 to 10,000 female students and teachers every day, Mohyuddin Wani, secretary for the Education Ministry told DPA on Tuesday.

"We are hopeful that many girls would be back to school again,” Wani said as he referred to the high cost of transportation during the past few years that pushed many families to withdraw girls from schools. The pink buses are set to start service on Wednesday. (DPA)
