Tribune News NetworkChennai Qatar maintained its seat in the International Chess Federation (FIDE), after Zhu Chen was re-elected as the treasurer of FIDE and a member of the Presidential Council for the next four years 2022-2026, provided that some other positions and committee memberships are determined soon, this came during the elections held on the sidelines of the 44th World Chess Olympiad on Monday.Chen obtained 152 out of 176 votes.The 46-year-old Chinese-born Qatari chess Grandmaster Chen expressed her happiness at maintaining her position and the great confidence she received from the members of FIDE General Assembly, noting that she has a major role to play in the continued development of the game and the improvement of the financial resources of the International Chess Federation.For his part, Mohammed Al Madhahka, President of the Qatar Chess Federation, expressed his great happiness at the re-election of Zhu Chen, considering this a great gain for Qatari, Arab and Asian chess.
