All five people aboard a helicopter belonging to Air Dynasty are confirmed dead following a crash in central Nepal on Wednesday.

The aircraft crashed near Shivapuri National Park while en route from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, police said.

The deceased include a Nepalese pilot and four Chinese nationals, one of whom was a woman, according to Nepalese police spokesperson Dan Bahadur Karki. “Our team has reached the crash site and confirmed that there are no survivors. The bodies have been collected,” Karki told DPA.

Syabrubesi, located about 80km north-west of Kathmandu near the Tibetan border, is a key entry point for trekkers heading to the Langtang region.

Nepal’s challenging mountainous terrain and rapidly changing weather conditions frequently contribute to aircraft accidents. These issues, combined with poor aviation safety standards, have resulted in numerous incidents.

In July, a plane crash in Kathmandu claimed 18 lives.

In January 2023, a Yeti Airlines plane crashed in Pokhara, killing 72 people. (DPA)
