Qatar legend Mutaz Barshim sailed into the men’s high jump final of the Paris 2024 Olympics in an eventful qualifying on Wednesday along

with Italian Gianmarco Tamberi, with whom he shared the Tokyo 2020 gold. Barshim, looking lean as always and in prim shape began by clearing the 2.15m, 2.20m, and 2.24 heights in first attempts with effortless ease but later just as he took his run up for his first attempt at 2.27m, he looked to have suffered a calf injury. The 33-year-old was however back in action and made a clear 2.27m jump in the second time. (TNN) page 12
