The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the Israeli occupation’s bombing of a school sheltering displaced people, east of Gaza city, which led to dozens of martyrs and injured.

Qatar deemed it as a horrific massacre and brutal crime against defenseless civilians and a flagrant infringement of the fundamental precepts of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council resolution 2601.

In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar’s call for conducting an urgent independent UN investigators to probe the ongoing targeting of schools and shelters for displaced people by Israeli occupation forces

The ministry reiterated the State of Qatar’s call on the international community to provide full protection for the displaced people and prevent the occupation forces from carrying out its plam aimed at forcibly displacing them from the Strip, in addition to compelling the occupation to abide by international laws.

The ministry underscored the State of Qatar’s firm position on the justice of the Palestinian cause, the legitimate rights of the fraternal Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

More than 100 Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded the Israeli strike on a school sheltering displaced people in Gaza City.

Three Israeli bombs hit al-Tabin school, located in the Daraj district, Gaza’s civil defence agency said of the attack on Saturday, which it described as a "horrific massacre”.

Women, children and the elderly are reported to be among the dead and the toll was expected to rise. The attack took place while people were performing morning prayers and triggered a fire that ripped through the building.

Israeli forces have repeatedly attacked schools used as shelters in Gaza, claiming they are command centres for Hamas, the Palestinian group that governs the territory, to hide fighters and manufacture weapons.
