The Doha Chapter of the Knights of Rizal and the Las Damas de Rizal recently hosted their Chartering Ceremony at a remarkable event held at the Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel.

The event, themed ‘Integrating Rizal’s Legacy: Embodying Patriotism, Chivalry, and Service Among Overseas Filipinos’, celebrated the establishment of these chapters and their commitment to upholding the values of the Philippine national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal.

The ceremony featured a series of dignified rituals, including Knighting, Chartering, Induction, Elevation, and Exaltation Ceremonies.

The programme commenced with the presentation of colors by PSD Cadet Officers, who led the audience in the Qatar and Philippine national anthems.

A floral offering to Dr. Rizal, the Philippine national hero, followed, paying tribute to his enduring legacy.

Attendees participated in a recital of Rizal’s Code of Ethics, Rizal’s Oath, and a Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, emphasising their commitment to the values of patriotism and service.

Dr. Jose Puno Villanueva, KCR, Area Commander for Oman, Qatar, and the UAE, delivered a meaningful welcome address. He celebrated the establishment of the Doha Chapter of the Knights of Rizal and congratulated the newly elevated and inducted officers of both organisations.

"The establishment of the Doha Chapter is a historic milestone for the Knights of Rizal and the Las Damas de Rizal,” Villanueva remarked.

"It signifies our continuous growth and our relentless pursuit to spread the teachings and legacy of Dr. Jose Rizal across the globe.”

Inspirational speeches were given by notable figures including Dr. Elpidio Quitevis, KCR, Regional Commander of the Middle East and African Region, who acknowledged Dr. Joey for chartering the first two chapters in the MEAR during the current term and shared plans for the Rizalian Year 2023 – 2025. HE Ferdinand Alfonso, KGOR, the Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, also spoke, highlighting the significance of Rizal’s ideals.

The Philippine Ambassador to Qatar HE Lillibeth Pono served as the Guest of Honor. She extended her warm congratulations to the chartering organizations, stating, "Indeed, love for one’s country and the fervent devotion to freedom are universal values that transcend time and geographical borders.”

Violinist Willie Valdehueza Munar performed during the event.

The ceremony also highlighted the Knighthood and Induction Ceremonies of the Knights of Rizal Doha Chapter Charter Officers, with Dr. Quitevis overseeing the elevation and exaltation of the new chapter’s KCR Commander.

The Knights of Rizal Doha Chapter Chartering Officers are Dr. Elvin Fajutagana, KCR, Chapter Commander; Jundee Mar Tejedo, KOR, Deputy Chapter Commander; Sherwin Olimpo, KOR, Chapter Chancellor; Dennis Bandojo, KOR, Chapter Pursuivant; Gerard Abejuela, KOR, Chapter Exchequer; Allan Algado, KOR, Chapter Auditor; Jyerex m Abrasado, KOR, Chapter Archivist; Danilo Chan, KOR, Chapter Pursuivant; and Roy Baquiran, KOR, Deputy Chapter Exchequer.

The Las Damas de Rizal Doha Chapter also conducted their induction, with members reciting the Oath of Membership and the Las Damas pledge.

The Oath of Office for the Las Damas Officers was administered by Ambassador Pono.

The Las Damas de Rizal Doha Chapter Chartering Officers include Dr. Analiza Binondo, President; Dr. Richelle Arugay, Vice President Internal Affairs; Grace Moran, Vice President External Affairs; Maria Michelle Revillosa, Secretary; Jennifer Vanguardia, Assistant Secretary; Lovely Amor Alamag, Treasurer; Jackielou Cabauatan, Assistant Treasurer; Sheila Marie Cantos, Auditor; Keziah Mei Sadiwa, Public Relations Officer.

The event concluded with the Knights of Rizal performing the Fraternal Sign, led by Dr. Elpidio Quitevis, KCR, followed by the singing of the Knights of Rizal Hymn. Guests enjoyed a delightful dinner and socializing session, with entertainment provided by the Soundz of Era band.

This historic occasion not only celebrated the formation of the Doha Chapter but also reinforced the Knights of Rizal and Las Damas de Rizal’s commitment to perpetuating Dr. Jose Rizal’s legacy among overseas Filipinos.
