LONDON: The leaders of the United Kingdom, France and Germany have welcomed the joint statement issued by the leaders of Qatar, Egypt and the United States of America on the necessity of completing the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and releasing prisoners and detainees.

A joint statement issued by the leaders of the three countries, and published by the British government on Monday, said: "We support the joint statement by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt and President Joe Biden of the United States, calling for the immediate resumption of negotiations. We agree that there can be no further delay.”

The joint statement continued: "We have worked with all parties to prevent escalation and will spare no effort to reduce tensions and find a path to stability. The fighting must end now, all hostages must be released. The people of Gaza need urgent and unrestricted access and distribution of aid.”

The statement expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions in the region, expressing its commitment to de-escalation and achieving regional stability.

On August 8, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and US President Joe Biden issued a joint statement in which they stressed that it is time to immediately end the long-standing suffering of the people of the Gaza Strip, as well as the hostages and their families, and to conclude a ceasefire agreement and release the hostages and detainees.

They noted that they and their teams have worked hard for several months to reach a framework agreement, which is now on the table and all that is missing is the completion of the implementation details.

They also expressed their readiness as mediators, if necessary, to put forward a settlement proposal for the remaining implementation-related issues in a manner that meets the expectations of all parties, noting their call to resume urgent talks on Thursday, August 15, in Doha or Cairo to close all remaining gaps and begin implementing the agreement without any delay.
