A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Doha to mark the 77th Independence Anniversary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The event was celebrated in a festive manner, drawing hundreds of community members.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar HE Muhemmed Aejaz hoisted the Pakistani flag on the embassy premises in Doha’s diplomatic area. The audience recited the national anthem in unison. Messages from the president, prime minister, and deputy prime minister/minister for foreign affairs of Pakistan were read aloud.
In his address, Ambassador Aejaz congratulated Pakistanis on the 78th Independence Day. He emphasised that the day revitalises the nation’s commitment to the progress and prosperity of their homeland, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by their forefathers to achieve a sovereign, independent Islamic state. He urged all Pakistanis to serve their country with greater dedication, aiming to elevate the national flag, which symbolises the nation’s hopes and aspirations.
He reiterated Pakistan’s support for the Palestinians, referencing recent resolutions passed by the Senate and National Assembly of Pakistan that uphold the Palestinian cause.
The ambassador noted that 2024 had been a year of active engagement between Pakistan and Qatar. He praised the Pakistani community in Qatar, acknowledging their love for their country and their zeal in contributing to Pakistan’s progress and development. He expressed confidence in the community’s ability to represent the true image of Pakistan, in line with the ideals and teachings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Ambassador Aejaz also expressed gratitude to the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the leadership of Qatar for their support to the Pakistani community, providing them with excellent employment opportunities and living conditions.
He assured the community that the embassy and its staff would continue to serve the Pakistani diaspora with utmost dedication, working tirelessly for their welfare. The ceremony concluded with prayers for the progress, prosperity, and solidarity of Pakistan.
