Birla Public School (BPS), Doha, celebrated the 78th Independence Day of India with great patriotic fervour on Thursday.

BPS Chairman Gope Shahani hoisted the Indian National flag, which was followed by the rendition of the National Anthem.

BPS Principal Dr Anand R Nair welcomed the gathering, which was attended by management representative Siddharth Shahani, head of Non-Academics Vinod Kumar KV, Vice-Principal Radhika Rele, life members, and academic and non–academic members of the school.

In his Independence Day message, Gope Shahani conveyed greetings to the Indian community on behalf of the Board of Directors. He urged attendees to reflect upon the sacrifices made for the freedom of India.

He emphasised the role of educational institutions in shaping the future of the country, reminding the staff to uphold the principles that India as a nation stood for and to become torchbearers of progress, innovation, and social change. Vice-Principal Radhika Rele proposed the formal vote of thanks.

She reminded everyone of their responsibility towards the nation and urged the gathering to carry the essence of India, wherever they are in the world.
