The GCC Under-15 Basketball Championship, hosted by the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF), kicked off at the Qatar University Hall on Thursday with Bahrain defeating Oman 106-37 in the opener.

In the second match, Saudi Arabia (KSA) beat the UAE

68-30.

Hosts Qatar will start their campaign in the tournament against Oman on Friday at 7pm. Kuwait and the UAE are scheduled to meet at 5pm.

Six teams, namely Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and hosts Qatar are participating in the tournament which ends on August 19.

While Group A includes Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE, Group B comprises Bahrain, Oman and hosts Qatar.

The Qatar team is being represented by Muhanna Khalid, Ibrahim Al Mufti, Jassim Al Qahtani, Hamad Al Langawi, Abdulaziz Al Qahtani, Majed Al Mansour, Mohammed Al Badi, Ahmed Yassin, Mohammed Al Qahtani, Mishaal Al Mughni, Sultan Abdullah, Mohammed Al Khazai, Azzam Yakan, and Saud Al Mughaiseeb.
