The father of Spain star and Euro 2024 champion Lamine Yamal has been hospitalized following a stabbing incident in the town of Mataro, near Barcelona, according to reports.
The La Vanguardia newspaper was the first to report on the case, citing the police. There hasn’t been any official confirmation of the incident so far.
The father of the 17-year-old player suffered two stab wounds to the abdomen and was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
However, there is no danger to his life and his condition is stable.
The police said on X on Thursday that they arrested four suspects involved in a knife attack in Mataro, but they didn’t confirm whether Yamal’s father was the victim.
The four persons were accused of attempted murder.
According to local sources, a confrontation escalated into violence, resulting in Yamal’s father being stabbed multiple times.
Yamal, who grew up in Mataro, is gearing up for the start of La Liga with Barcelona. During the Euro 2024, he was one of the most impressive players for champions Spain.
