London

Brighton have announced the signing of attacking midfielder Brajan Gruda from Bundesliga side Mainz, subject to a work permit and international clearance.

The 20-year-old Germany Under-21 international has signed a contract until June 2028 at the Amex Stadium.

Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler said: “I’m really pleased to get the opportunity to work with Brajan.

“I saw the big impact he made last season in the Bundesliga and he’s a player I admire a lot.

“The Premier League will be a different challenge but I’m looking forward to working with Brajan and helping to develop his big potential.”

Bristol City have signed midfielder George Earthy on a season-long loan from West Ham.

The 19-year-old made his Premier League debut for the Hammers in April and scored his first senior goal in a 3-1 win over Luton the following month.

Robins head coach Liam Manning said: “George will add a different dynamic to our attack and we know he will bring a huge amount of energy when he plays.

“He has an ability to create and we are excited to see what he can bring to this team.”

Newcastle say Sandro Tonali

will be available from August 28

Newcastle have confirmed midfielder

Sandro Tonali will be available again from August 28.

The Italy international was handed a 10-month ban by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) in October for breaching betting rules during his time at former club AC Milan.

However, FIGC has informed Newcastle that Tonali can play again on Wednesday, August 28, which could open the door for the 24-year-old to return against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.

Eddie Howe’s side are due to face Forest in a second round tie during that week. If that fixture is scheduled for Tuesday, August 27, Tonali will be in contention for the visit of Tottenham on September 1.

“The club has received formal confirmation from the Federazione Italiana Guioco Calico (FIGC) that the player’s sporting sanction will run up to and including Tuesday 27th August,” a Newcastle statement read.

Tonali made 12 appearances for Newcastle following his summer arrival from AC Milan before he was hit with a worldwide suspension for betting breaches.

PSG midfielder Carlos Soler

linked with West Ham move

West Ham have expressed an interest

in signing Carlos Soler from Paris

Saint-Germain.

New Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui wants to make the Spain midfielder his ninth recruit of a busy summer, the PA news agency understands.

Former Wolves boss Lopetegui has already spent north of £130 million on the likes of Max Kilman, Niclas Füllkrug, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Crysencio Summervile, and he may not have finished yet.

However, the Spaniard said: “I’m not going to talk about names that are not here. It’s not my aim today. My aim is to be ready for our match. Let’s see what is going to happen. The market is open. We are going to be aware about it. But we are going to put the focus on the players that are here.”

One player trying to leave West Ham is last season’s captain, Kurt Zouma.

The French defender is currently in Dubai in talks with another club after a move to Shabab Al Ahli collapsed due to a failed medical.

“Kurt is a fantastic person and a very good player,” added Lopetegui. “He is trying to choose his future. We are going to wait. It’s true that he is trying to talk to other teams right now. Let’s see what is going to happen. For sure, the team that has the opportunity to take him, they are going to be happy because he is a good player.”
