The Central Indian Association (CIA) marked the 78th Indian Independence Day with a vibrant and unforgettable celebration in Qatar, bringing together hundreds of community members. The event, which took place at MIE SPPU Pune University, Doha was a grand success, showcasing the unity and diversity of the Indian community in Qatar.
The night was filled with excitement as participants of all ages took part in various cultural competitions, making it an evening to remember. The highlight was the spirited dance competition, where performers enthralled the audience with traditional and contemporary Indian dances. The stage came alive with colourful costumes, intricate choreography, and powerful performances that reflected the cultural depth and artistic talent within the community.
In addition to the dance competition, a dress competition also captivated the audience. Participants showcased India’s diverse ethnic wear, celebrating the nation’s unity in diversity. From vibrant saris to regal sherwanis, the competition highlighted the beauty and variety of India’s traditional attire.
The competition was judged by prominent choreographers and well-known personalities of Doha – Bhavna Sagar Naik, Ginesh, Mamni Nagaswamy, Parvinder Bhurji and Noor Afshan.
The event saw an overwhelming turnout, with hundreds of attendees from across Qatar joining in the celebrations. The atmosphere was electric, with the spirit of patriotism and festivity filling the air. The celebration concluded with a grand finale, where winners of the competitions were awarded, and everyone joined in singing the Indian national anthem, further strengthening the bond of the Indian community in Qatar.
Speaking on the occasion, CIA President Jai Prakash said, “This celebration is a testament to the strong ties that bind our community together, even far from home. We are thrilled to see such enthusiastic participation and are committed to continuing this tradition, making it bigger and better every year.”
CIA Vice President Syed Rafi expressed his heartfelt appreciation, stating, “This celebration is a true reflection of our community’s dedication and passion for honouring our heritage. I want to praise the efforts of all the committee members whose hard work and commitment made this event possible. Their meticulous planning and execution were instrumental in ensuring the success of tonight’s celebration that transformed this event into a memorable occasion that we will cherish for years to come.”
