Amwaj emerged the champions of the Eid Al Adha Workers Cricket Tournament, beating QCON by eight wickets in the final at the Asia Town Stadium on Thursday.
Batting first, QCON made 32 in five overs. Amwaj chased the small target at the expense of only two wickets.
Ten teams - Nakheel Landscapes, QCON, Ineco, Manco, Aktor, Emco Qatar, Gulf Ware Housing, Ibn Ajayan, DHL and Amwaj contested in the five-over-a-side tournament. Both Amwaj and QCON were dominant in their respective matches leading to the final.
Amwaj won the semi-final against Gulf Ware Housing by 38 runs after setting a stiff 63-run target, while QCON, who made 43 runs, clinched the other berth in the final after crushing Aktor by 27 runs
Gul Khan Jadoon, Head of Tournament & Events at the Qatar Cricket Association, presented the winner's trophy to Amwaj. He thanked QCA President Yousef Jeham al Kuwari for his support to the tournament, including Qatar 2022 Tshirts to all players, officials and other volunteers.
Other officials present at the stadium were Muhammad Asif (QCA Accountant), Jamshaid Ahmad (QCA Administrator), Amjad (official scorer), Ijaz (commentator), Narindera, Rana Saqlain, Kamrul (match official umpires) and Shivani Mishra (electronic scorer/umpire).
