The Ministry of Labour (MoL) commemorated World Humanitarian Day on August 19, emphasising the significance of humanitarian work and the need to ensure a work environment that respects human rights across social, environmental and economic dimensions.

Saad Rashid Al Nabit, assistant director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department at the MoL, highlighted Qatar’s prominent role in providing global humanitarian aid to countries affected by disasters, crises and conflicts. He noted that this commitment stems from Qatar’s principles of cooperation, partnership, integrity and neutrality. Al Nabit also stressed the importance of supporting and enhancing partnerships with local and international entities.

During the ceremony, held under the theme ‘Act for Humanity’, Al Nabit underscored the MoL’s focus on the safety and well-being of humanitarian workers, who often face numerous risks in their line of duty. He expressed gratitude to all humanitarian and charitable workers at local, regional, and international levels for their tireless efforts.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Max Tunon, director of the International Labour Organization Qatar Office, and Marco Polo from the Building and Wood Workers’ International Union, alongside other officials from relevant Qatari institutions. The ceremony concluded with the honouring of several leading figures in the humanitarian sector for their continued dedication and service.
