CANBERRA: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia HE Penny Wong.

During the meeting, they reviewed relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them in the fields of economy, trade exchange, clean energy and technology, in addition to discussing several regional and international issues, especially developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, ways to reduce tension in the Middle East region, in a way that enhances regional and international security and stability, and the latest developments in Afghanistan.

The Australian Foreign Minister expressed her country's support for the joint mediation efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

She also expressed her thanks to Qatar for its efforts in returning Australian citizens stranded during the COVID-19 pandemic via Qatar Airways, and its role in evacuating Australians from Afghanistan and the Gaza Strip.
