QATAR Academy Sidra (QA Sidra), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), has celebrated the success of its inaugural batch of International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) graduates with a 100 percent pass rate and scores that exceeded the global average.
Qatar Academy Sidra said in a statement on Wednesday that three students earned an average IBDP score of 26 points, compared to the global IBDP mean pass rate of 24 points. Now, with their school life behind them, the three Qatar Academy Sidra alumni Karim Emara, Thurriya al Mulla and Afnan Farah are preparing for the next stage of their learning journey as they start university studies in September.
Emara will join Northwestern University in Qatar, a QF partner university, to study Communications; Al Mulla intends to study Computer Science at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, a member of QF; while Farah will pursue an Art degree at Kingston University in the UK.
"We are delighted that our very first Qatar Academy Sidra alumni had the opportunity to pursue an IB Diploma," said Kim Green, director of Qatar Academy Sidra."The journey undertaken to complete this qualification will ensure that our first three alumni will make a significant difference in the world. We congratulate them on their outstanding results, we are proud of their contributions to our school community and we look forward to following their future closely."
The school's first alumni join other students who have graduated with an IB Diploma this year around 450 in Qatar, and over 165,700 globally and the worldwide community of nearly one million people who have studied the IB curriculum since it was founded nearly 50 years ago.
