DOHA: The total value of Qatar’s gold holdings at the end of July reached QR30.7 billion, the highest level ever, representing 16 percent of the country’s total official reserves, according to data from the Qatar Central Bank.

As of the end of June 2024, gold reserves had grown by about QR8.124 billion compared to the same period in 2023, reaching QR28.977 billion.With more than 106.4 tonnes, Qatar ranks 38th globally in gold ownership, according to data from the World Gold Council.

Qatar has increased its gold purchases from 40 tonnes in February 2020 to exceed 100 tonnes by the end of 2023, according to CNBC Arabia.
